Get nitrox certified in Puerto Rico.

The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) course: eLearning at home, then about 2 hours at our Bayamón shop, near San Juan. You leave able to analyze your own tank and plan dives with nitrox, for more bottom time on your next dive.

How the course works

  1. PADI eLearning, at home. At your own pace: what nitrox is, how it changes your no-decompression limits, oxygen exposure and maximum depth. It’s bought separately from PADI; our link is connected to our dive center.
  2. At the shop, about 2 hours. With your instructor, you analyze a nitrox cylinder yourself, check the oxygen percentage, work out the maximum depth for that mix and record it on the tank.
  3. Plan a nitrox dive. You set your dive computer for the mix and plan a dive with it. When you finish, you’re a certified PADI Enriched Air Diver.

What nitrox does, and doesn’t do

Nitrox, or enriched air, has more oxygen and less nitrogen than regular air. Less nitrogen means longer no-decompression times, especially on repeat dives in the 50–100 ft range.

It does not let you go deeper. More oxygen means a shallower maximum depth, which is why you analyze every tank and know its limit before you dive.

Your PADI Enriched Air certification covers mixes up to 40% oxygen. Work out the maximum depth for a mix with our nitrox calculator.

Nitrox fills at the shop

We blend nitrox at our Bayamón shop, in 28–40% mixes. It’s blended midweek, so give us notice. You need to show your nitrox certification card.

Diving with us? Request nitrox when you book our shore dives or boat trips. More on fills and service.

Nitrox questions

How long does the nitrox course take?

PADI eLearning at your own pace, then about 2 hours at the shop with your instructor.

How much does the nitrox course cost?

From $125 per person, plus tax. PADI eLearning is bought separately from PADI.

Do I have to dive to get certified?

No. The course is done at the shop, with no dives required. Use your new certification on your next dive.

Does nitrox let me dive deeper?

No. Nitrox gives you longer no-decompression times, but its maximum depth is shallower than air. You learn to find the limit for each mix.

What is the minimum age?

12 years old, with an Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water or equivalent certification.

Can I get nitrox fills from you?

Yes, 28–40% mixes at the Bayamón shop. Nitrox is blended midweek, so give us notice, and bring your nitrox certification card.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled time for a full refund. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full. You can reschedule once, depending on availability. Read the full policy.
