How the course works

  1. PADI eLearning, at home. It’s required, and it’s bought separately from PADI. PADI puts it at about 2 to 4 hours. Buying through our link connects it to your instructor at PR Dive. If it isn’t done, you can’t start and we’ll have to reschedule.
  2. Two mornings at the bench. 7 to 10 AM, Monday to Friday, before the shop opens, so there are no interruptions. Your instructor is one of the people who service gear in our shop, and you work on your own gear the whole time.
  3. No dives. It all happens at the shop. Finish both mornings and you’re a PADI Equipment Specialist.

What you learn

  • How your regulator, BCD and the rest of your gear work.
  • Care, cleaning and storage, so your gear lasts longer.
  • Simple fixes you can do on the spot: fin and mask straps, o-rings, a small wetsuit tear.
  • Adjusting your gear so it fits you right.
  • What goes in a save-a-dive kit.
  • What needs a professional service, why, and how often.

Regulator service stays with our technicians. You learn how your regulator works and how to care for it, and the signs that it’s due for service.

Before you come

  • Finish your eLearning and bring proof that it’s complete: a screenshot of the final page or the completion email works.
  • Bring your certification card and your gear: mask, fins, BCD, regulator, wetsuit, and your dive computer if you have one.
  • Be at the shop by 7 AM: 16-20 Ave. Aguas Buenas, Urb. Santa Rosa, Bayamón. There are a few spaces out front and more parking around the corner.

Equipment Specialist questions

Is there any diving?

No. It all happens at our shop in Bayamón, at the service bench.

Will I learn to service my own regulator?

No. Regulator service needs a trained technician, the right tools and the manufacturer’s parts, so it stays with our technicians. You learn how your regulator works, how to care for it and when it’s due.

Do I need my own gear?

Yes, that’s the idea: you learn on the gear you dive with. Bring your mask, fins, BCD, regulator, wetsuit, and your dive computer if you have one. Missing something? Tell us when you ask for dates.

Is eLearning required?

Yes. It’s bought separately from PADI. Buy it through our link so it connects straight to your instructor. If it isn’t done, you can’t start and we’ll have to reschedule.

When is it?

Two mornings, Monday to Friday, 7 to 10 AM, before the shop opens. We set the dates with you.

Does it count toward Master Scuba Diver?

Yes. It’s a PADI specialty, so it counts as one of the five you need.

Want to know your gear?

There’s no online booking for this one yet. Send us a question with the days that work for you, call (787) 436-7047 or WhatsApp us, and we’ll set your two mornings. Do your PADI eLearning before the first one.
